THE ASSESMENT
The alloy wheel refurbishment process at Powder-flo Bradford, Starts with the wheels being removed from the vehicles. Technicians then can have a in-depth look at the alloys themselves. At this point we search for any damage, alloy wheel cracks or previous repairs which may require futher work. Powder-flo has in some instances found wheels to have multiple cracks or poor previous repairs when removed, thus instructing the customer to purchase a replacement wheel due to safety and cost efficiency. If the wheels are satisfactory and safe to be refurbished; We then remove the tyres, all valves and balancing weights, and dip the wheels in our acid tanks.
THE ACID BATH
A full alloy wheel refurbishment can only be conducted once the wheels are down to bare metal. Powder-flo does not coat or refurbish over any existing coating, as this can later cause adhesion issues, and peeling. Also the extra thickness or coatings cause issues such as center caps not fitting correctly. Our acid baths do wonders with regards to stripping all previous coatings of the wheels. DAMAGE REPAIR
As expected alloy wheels will have some for of damage, generally kerb damage. Powder-flo uses traditional and highly skilled techniques such as TIG welding, to fill the damaged areas. This gives the wheel a complete metal finish which is undetectable once grounded smooth. Our alloy wheel refurbishment bradford services do not use fillers to repair damage, these may shrink or deteriorate over time, only solid metal is added back into wheels.
SHOOTING SOME COLOUR
Now its on with some colour. With the wheels all prepped and ready for some paint they are initially pre-baked in our powder coating oven. The wheels are then powder coated in OEM approved coatings supplied by Freilacke UK, the same coatings used by the original manufacturers. Powder-flo do not use cheaper architectural powders when coating wheels. The alloy wheel refurbishment process uses powders and paints strictly for the alloy wheel coating industry, this give the best finish and durability.
CNC DIAMOND CUT
Powder-flo uses a state of the art CNC machine to perform diamond cut alloy wheel refurbishment. Wheels are now clamped to the diamond cut machine and the technicians perform strategic checks, and programme special profiles to meet the exact requirements of the wheel in question. Using experience and knowledge Powder-flo bradford can then cut the alloy wheels to a factory finish.
CLEAR COATING
Powderflo only uses OEM approved coatings for alloy wheel refurbishment bradford. We strictly only use Freilacke ACRYLIC clear powders for clear coating our wheels. This provides the highest gloss, most durability, and excellent weather resistance. We do not use cheaper POLYESTER based clear coats. You can be assured we will be an excellent job.
TYRES REFITTED AND BALANCED
Our coating process has now finished. We now refit the tyres on to the wheels, we use a Corghi leverless machine which means we wont scratch anything. We will use brand new valves (Unless your vehicle has TPMS sensors). Wheels are then balanced using coated weights prior to fitting on the vehicle.

With the wheels refitted to the vehicle we can sit back and admire a totally professional finish. Yours wheels have been refurbished.
